May God Protect Sarabjit Singh

Attack on Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh in a Pakistani Jail is not surprising. After all, Pakistan is a lawless state where incidents of large and small scale violence are so much rampant. What is surprising is that India left its son Sarabjit Singh to suffer in silence and there is no real pressure on government of India to do something about him. So far only the BJP has spoken strongly in his support. There is no credible proof against Sarabjit Singh, at least in public domain, and yet Pakistan has made him a case to appease anti-India elements in Pakistan. Sarabjit Singh, a farmer, had strayed inside Pakistani border by mistake in a drunk state in August 1990, 3 months after the bombings happened for which he was accused. He was originally arrested on the charges of illegally crossing Pakistan border, but 8 days afterwards, charges of planting bombs were imposed on him for political reasons. Since Pakistan bombs Indian cities and sends trained terrorists inside India, i...

Heavens

Someone wrote: Theory of heavens: If I am here I should be dead in Heaven (or hell , whatever). So what did they say to me, In the lines people say here about my deeds "if I do this I will go to heaven or hell"... Reply: I have read that humans are of highest in hierarchy on earth. After that some souls can attain the status of the Devas. Even Devatas can fall if they can't maintain their Tapas (spiritual powers). We have examples of Apsaras being thrown out of Swarga; Indras being dethroned because of wrongdoings; even goddess Ganga came on earth from Brahmaloka. Nothing else is permanent except Paramatman and attaining Moksha. So I think according to the law of Karma it is perfectly fine to say that one would be thrown out of the heaven and would land up on earth if one's conduct is not right.

Swami on Fast

There is a two-line news item on today’s (Aug 21, 2012) edition of Times of India. Titled “Sage on indefinite fast for probe into Nigmananda’s death”, it reports from Dehradun that 67 year old Shivanand Sarswati, the founder of Matrisadan Ashram in Haridwar has entered 15 th day of his fast-unto-death seeking a fresh CBI probe into the death of Swami Nigamananda who was campaigning against illegal mining around the river Ganga. Upon reading this, many things instantly come to my mind. I think only Hindus (an umbrella term for many sects) can be so willing to sacrifice their lives to protect rivers and trees, essential our mother nature making our country. It is because from the smallest rituals to the biggest philosophical concepts, protecting nature is so much part of Hinduism. Secondly, our media has done a great injustice by neglecting such news and events of gravest importance while giving highlights to populist superficial news. Even love affairs of cinema and TV stars or ...

Now Petrol also has a Caste in India

It is often said that castes are a reality in India. These are not some virtual tags or surnames which impact nothing but only the way you write names. Your caste (mostly, if you are a Hindu) may affect the way you will be treated by others. Your caste may decide whether you are eligible to marry a girl of your choice or not. By and large and socially, this happened to be the limit castes would have impacted you - to gain you first cut acceptance or respect by your fellow caste-members, or to decide your eligibility criteria during prospective marriages. But when politics entered it, it has spiraled into many more spheres. Today, governments in India give entries into schools and colleges; give jobs, promotions, bank loans, ration, and a hell lot of other things, depending on your caste. Though most political parties have employed this ‘divide and rule’ strategy, if there is one party which has been pioneer in inventing more ways to 'legalize' casteism (caste based discrim...

Minorities dept ‘buys’ 70% of seats in Maharashtra polytechnics

Minorities dept ‘buys’ 70% of seats in Maharashtra polytechnics Hemali Chaapia , TNN | Jun 15, 2012, 02.07AM IST MUMBAI: Maharashtra's minorities department has bought over one shift in government polytechnics and ITIs ( industrial training institutes) and reserved 70% of the seats in that batch for six minority religions. Additionally, it is also proposed to start a similar scheme in engineering colleges. The move is aimed at promoting education among Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists and Parsis. Even as the Supreme Court ruled against any religion-based quota, the government, in a week, will start admission to these polytechnics and ITIs and fill 70% seats with minority students in the second shift of all these colleges. The scheme will be operational in the second shift—1.30pm-8.30pm—and run in 15 government polytechnics (2,700 seats) and in 42 ITIs that have 4,344 seats. The remaining 30% seats will be open for general category students. "We have started this s...

SC ready to test reservation demand for dalit Christians and Muslims

SC ready to test reservation demand for dalit Christians and Muslims TNN, Jan 22, 2011, 05.17am IST NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday framed questions to test the validity of the demand based on the Ranganath Misra Commission recommendation for inclusion of dalit Christians and Muslims in the scheduled caste list to avail quota in education and jobs. A Bench comprising Chief Justice S H Kapadia and Justices K S Radhakrishnan and Swatanter Kumar posted for February 24 final hearing on petitions challenging the Presidential Order of 1950 limiting reservation to dalits among Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists. It also made the national commissions for minorities and scheduled castes parties to the pending petitions, issued notices and asked for their responses. The SC commission has said it had no objection to reservation given to dalit Muslims and Christians but had asked the Centre to ensure that it did not carve out quota for them from the existing 15% for SCs. The government had said...

Bangladeshi Migrants - Hindus Vs Muslims

This is where I completely hail BJP for standing up for the genuine rights of Hindus. I am happy to read this news and I hope government sees the point. I believe India indeed has a moral responsibility to accept all Hindus from either Pakistan or Bangladesh who have to flee from these countries due to religious discrimination. We created separate nations for Muslims, but we also need to think of the plight of the Hindus who suffered because of our decision. . Enrol Bangladeshi Hindus as voters: BJP NEW DELHI, January 4, 2011 . The Bharatiya Janata Party has no problem with Bangladeshi Hindus settled in Assam being put on the electoral rolls. Its objection was only to Bangladeshi Muslims, the party in-charge of political affairs in Assam Vijay Goel said here on Monday. In fact, he said “Bangladeshi Hindus must be put on the voters’ lists.” . Mr. Goel led a BJP delegation to meet the Election Commission and submitted a memorandum asking the Commission to undertake a proper revision of r...
