Communal Congress Targets Muslim Votes by Proposing Minority Quota

In a country, it pays to first generate a sense of inferiority feeling in the religious minorities with large enough population and then keep offering them fodder in order to maintain them as “vote banks”. Congress Party has been at the forefront of playing such communal minority appeasement politics. The recent news tells about its plans to master this art:

Minority affairs minister K Rahman Khan said the Centre would try to secure an early hearing in the Supreme Court on 4.5% minority sub-quota.

The contentious sub-quota was announced last year ahead of UP elections but was quashed by Andhra Pradesh High Court. The SC refused to stayed the HC order while allowing the Centre's petition against it.

"We stand committed to what we promised in our party manifesto about reservation to backwards among Muslims. We are confident that 4.5% sub-quota for backward Muslims will see the light of the day. " the minister said.

Blaming the Andhra Pradesh order on poor defence by the government counsel, Khan said the Centre had only created a sub-quota for minorities within the 27% OBC quota. "These communities have been getting the reservation for backwardness. It is nothing new," he said.

It is so shameless for the Congress Party to create this sub-quota from within the 27% OBC quota allocation. This move will naturally result in OBCs getting lesser portion of the benefits. The fact is that many Muslims already get some advantage of government’s communal minority appeasement policies and this will be an icing to the cake.

The only question that remains is if this move will ever be successful. Last time High Court had rejected shamed Govt’s communal plans and this time Supreme Court has the responsibility to ban communal politicians of Congress party from using minority quota to ensure victory in elections. Such politics also are to serve wakeup calls to the Hindus to understand what is going on in this country in the name of minority appeasement.
