It seems the Press has never forgotten what the Party did to them during the Emergency; so they are ever ready to toe its line. Then there is big ticket Advertisement revenue: if you work for govt, you will get payoffs in terms of big and small govt ads. Times of India's crooked plan to tarnish Modi’s image was revealed this time.

A news daily has issued a clarification relating to a front page news report which appeared on 23 June 2013. “Modi in Rambo Act saves 15000” was given pride of place just below the masthead considering that the copy related to a Chief Minister who is the toast of the nation and from whom every day, ‘the nation wants to know’.

Now immediately after this Rambo distortion, Times of India is busy in misquoting and manipulating Narendra Modi’s interview; calling it “his puppy remark”. But after this event, it seems Times of India better be careful about its own “PuppyGiri”:)

Someone asked me to refer to Yajurveda 13.42. It meant 42nd Mantra in 13th Adhyay / chapter. I tried searching for the same. I found the verse as this: Vatasya jutim varunasya nabhimashwam jagyanam sarirasya madhye. shishum nadinaam harim-adribudhnam agne ma hinsih parame vyoman. (Sorry if some spelling is wrong; I copied this from Sanskrit) While searching on the net, I found one site where someone had written that Yajurveda 13.42 says this: "Do not kill the horse." And hence the person claimed that this verse proves that Hindus used to kill horses in the Yajurveda period! But the actual meaning of this verse is this: He (Agne) Tejaswin vidwan! Swami on Fast

There is a two-line news item on today’s (Aug 21, 2012) edition of Times of India. Titled “Sage on indefinite fast for probe into Nigmananda’s death”, it reports from Dehradun that 67 year old Shivanand Sarswati, the founder of Matrisadan Ashram in Haridwar has entered 15 th day of his fast-unto-death seeking a fresh CBI probe into the death of Swami Nigamananda who was campaigning against illegal mining around the river Ganga. Upon reading this, many things instantly come to my mind. I think only Hindus (an umbrella term for many sects) can be so willing to sacrifice their lives to protect rivers and trees, essential our mother nature making our country. It is because from the smallest rituals to the biggest philosophical concepts, protecting nature is so much part of Hinduism.
