Nandan Nilekani to Fight Elections: Real or Fake?

What will he do by fighting election when his speculated-to-be party itself will lose next general elections? :) It will be too boring to sit in the opposition benches and do nothing. He should rather negotiate with BJP so that his red-beaconed Ambassadors keep running…  Btw, it looks like speculative news which typically is designed to trend on twitters of this world: There is nothing official about it yet, but the buzz in Lutyens Delhi has it that Nandan Nilekani is poised to enter politics and contest the next Lok Sabha elections from South Bangalore on a Congress ticket. Nilekani did not respond to messages, but three people independently confirmed that both the head of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and the Congress party were thinking along these lines. If he does contest, it will be a brave decision, and well-timed. http://www.livemint.com/Politics/9tc04PCqnQh76CvaJ5UFDL/Nandan-Nilekani-may-contest-elections-on-Congress-ticket.html

Modi as BJP's PM Candidate

Advani ji can be right; Cong can be right; and BJP can also be right. Only time can tell who would be right. So we should not think on the lines media wants us to (i.e. if decision was right or wrong), but we should think if Modi is right or wrong (if we have not thought already). Most of my friends like him because he stands for progress, something which unites all of us... So if he comes to power, India has better hope. It is always good to play by your strengths and we know Modi is more powerful today than Advani ji. BJP workers on the ground want Modi to be PM candidate. And people connect with Modi (that he stands for progress) but we don't know what Advani ji stands for today (may be he stands for glorious history of our nation but it is not enough). Modi is proven success story (in Gujarat) but Advani ji is proven a failure (2009 elections). So it was never difficult for BJP to choose between the two. Now the golden Qn as you also said is if this will benefit Cong. Even if...

Truth about Singapore’s Lokpal Bill

At the height of Jan Lokpal Bill agitation, you must have heard or read about Singapore's so called Lokpal Bill. Here is a very interesting take by a fellow blogger who rips apart this subject: The Reality of Singapore’s Lokpal Bill and Truths about Argentina’s Public Accountability Bill August 29, 2011 Pardeep There are two very famous messages – both polar opposite – circulating on the internet these days. One message seems to support Jan Lokpal Bill and Anna; other message denounces the Anna and Jan Lokpal Bill. My email-inbox is full of these two messages and my mobile inbox memory is crying to get relief of such messages. To get some relief from such messages and reply those who are sending me such messages again and again, here are my views on both the messages: The Reality of Singapore’s Lokpal Bill The message claims the following statement: [In 1982, in Singapore, bill similar to Jan Lokpal was implemented and 142 Corrupt Ministers & officers were arrested in one...

Thoughts

Someone said, "Life means we develop from getting to giving". I think it is always a good idea. If we want to give, first we need to have the same. In order to have it, we shall earn it by industry and paurush. In this manner, whole world will benefit starting from us. As such from the moment we give something, our ego starts to swell. So in Bhakti, people say that we are not giving but only serving. Serving someone does not inflame our ego. But giving someone results in ego. Again we can sustain service mentality only if we see the same Brahmn in everyone and everything. Thereby energy of universe flows through us... Someone said, "Our Own Understanding is More Important than Others' Appreciation" We have been taught that story of a man walking with his son and a donkey and in the end they carry donkey on their head, because they always were influenced by what others said about them... The path which takes us to seek approval of others, takes us to a mess and...

Multi level marketing is banned in India

It came to the front pages in the recent times with arrest of Amway India's CEO a few weeks back. In the articles related to the news it was often mentioned that all "pyramid schemes" and most of multi level marketing is banned in India. I just searched for a few articles which are below. We should be very careful. Such MLM schemes may not be banned in countries abroad, but it is banned in India. Who knows after a year or two something happens and all comes down. ----------------------- Govt asks states to ban multi-level marketing schemes Shruti Srivastava, New Delhi, Dec 03 2012 The Centre has proposed state governments to ban all companies running schemes which offer monetary benefits to subscriber for enrolling members to their scheme. In effect, all companies, firm or business associations in any form or individuals will not be allowed to run a scheme "with a compensation plan in which the subscribers would compulsorily have to enroll certain minimum number of...

786 in Islam?

What is 786 in Islam? You must have wondered about it. Here is a learned take on it for understanding this: 786 is numerological value to "Bismillahe Rahmane ne Rahim" which has surfaced recent era and it is an innovation ( Bidah ) in Islam and it is forbidden or more specifically "Haram" since Quran opposes Astrology, fortune telling, Numerology and such business and queries. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every innovation is misguidance and going astray, and all what drives man astray leads to Hell-Fire." This tradition is not from the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, or his Companions. It developed much later, perhaps during the later `Abbasid period. Few people derived this 786 from the ancient Arabic numerology and this sometimes also refers to a Hindu religious slogan called " hare Krishna " and makes it further unsuable. Those who invented the "786", are GUILTY of tampering with the ...

Why Gandhi Chose Nehru and not Patel

If you wondered why Gandhi ji chose Nehru and not Patel to become our first PM, here is the answer:  Why Gandhi opted for Nehru and not Sardar Patel for PM As Machiavelli wrote -" History is written by the victors". The official history of independent India was written  and overseen by that faction of the Congress party which emerged victorious in  the leadership tussle on the eve of independence with the tacit but partisan support of none other than the all powerful and universally venerable Mahatma Gandhi. According to this official history, Jawahar Lal Nehru was elected as the first Prime minister of India and Sardar Patel became his deputy and it was all done purely on merit. The official history has always downplayed the grave injustice that was done to the ‘Iron Man of India’ – Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel. It’s not that  the official history does not mention the emergence of Sardar Patel  and not Jawahar Lal Nehru as the overwhelming choice of the Con...

Is Shah Rukh Khan anti-India?

If you read newspapers daily, you must have come across below mentioned news. Or may be not. But answer to the question given in the title "Is Shah Rukh Khan Anti-India?" not so easy to answer. If being pro-Pakistan is called anti-India, then I fear SRK is more towards "yes" than straight "no". It is surprising that while he played roles in Indian Bollywood movies being a Hindu, with most famous name of "Rahul", he shows solidarity wards Pakistan every once in a while. So I think he deserves some criticism at least on this account. Anyways, here are some news items if you missed: New ISI chief shares tenuous link with Shah Rukh Khan Pakistan's new ISI chief, Lt Gen Zahir-ul-Islam, is the nephew of Indian National Army hero Shah Nawaz Khan and through him, shares a tenuous link with Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan.
